By technology I primarily mean the Internet, the 24/7 media, and social media. By money I mean the massive campaign funds at the disposal of Obama and Romney.

All else equal, how would the race have unfolded? I suspect it would be similar to what we are witnessing right now. Discuss with comparisons.

Note: I have posted this in the 2012 forum because I think it is more pertinent here, and will get a better response.

Given that Reagan was a master communicator, he would have won all 50 states.

Thread over.

The money would have shifted it to Reagan's favor, but the technology would have shifted it to Carter's favor.

One of the reasons for the GOP's collapse after the mid-2000s is the better access to technology and alternative media.
