Humphrey James Wilkinson's family was pretty much similiar to hundreds and thousands American families.
His father, Chafee Wilkinson worked as lawyer in his father-in-law firm "Pearsall", which had traces to 1880. "Pearsall" was considered on of the largest spice trade firms across the Western United States.

Humphrey Wilkinson's mother, Anne Pearsall was a quite and humble housewife. She was a very conservative Scotch-Irish catholic - a mark that Humphrey Wilkinson will bring through entire life.

Humphrey Wilkinson was a seventh son in a family of Chafee Wilkinson, who also was a seventh son in family (OOC: points to these who got the musical reference)
Siblings:
Tom Wilkinson
Harold Wilkinson
Eric Wilkinson (b. 1936) - twins
William Wilkinson
Ronald Wilkinson
David Wilkinson (b. 1937) - twins

Wilkinson's early years was quite silent. Baseball, books and dreams about better life somewhere in New York or California.
But childhood ended early.
In 1955, his mother had passed away from the heart failure. Father, who always was a kind and nice person, had become dark and spooky.
All seven brothers understood: There is no turning back and adult life had started.

Bump.
No full update, just some Hump's quotes:
Teacher: Let's assume that you have 10 apples and someone asked you 2. How much do you have left?
HW: Still 10.
Teacher: Well ... Let's suppose someone taken your 2 apples using force. How much do you have left?
HW: 10 apples and one cold, dead body.

HW: When I watch a movie where the world is threatened and it's about to , I'm always on the side of evil. Happy ending - is so boring!

HW: All humans are somewhat similar. Especially the fact that I hate them all.

HW is a mix of George Carlin, Dr. House, Hunter S. Thompson and Sgt. Hartman.

None of which could get elected to any office. Also, George Carlin was a very liberal atheist, as was Thompson.

Oh hush this would be hilarious.  Plus if they were Christian there'd be no real issue if they started small, particularly George Carlin (NYC shouldn't be too hard for a Democrat) and Thompson thought about a run for senate, right Cathcon?  I know he didn't win, but how did that turn out (if I'm right that is).

From what I remember reading, there were three positions Thompson either aspired to, ran for, or considered running for.

One was Sheriff of Aspen on the "Freak Power" ticket. He lost by a comfortable margin in a two way race. It was two-way since the Dems and Reps decided to team up to make sure that the Freak Power slate of candidates didn't win a single office.

Second was American Ambassador to some island country. Can't remember. He made several references to it and being told that he would get it then later being disappointed. ("He tells me to go out and by six white shark suits. Then that fucker tells me not to get my hopes up!")

Third was Senator from Colorado in '74. He considered it in some of the post-'72 election haze. He talked with Gary Hart about it and it turned out Hart (who had helped run the McGovern campaign) was considering it. He later gave it up entirely.

Now remember those three accounts are according to Thompson himself, so he's not the most reliable narrator. So this page casts a tiny bit more light on his run for "Aspen Sheriff" which apparently was for something else.

So he thought hart would win, and hart was close enough to him politically and personally that he backed out?  Or some personal reason?

Random HW quote:

HW
: I was smoking on the balcony. I didn't had an ashtray, so I threw a cigarette butt out the window.
Little boy, (about ten years old, I guess) was standing below balcony. And butt falls right at his feet. He lifts his head and barks,
- Sir, you shouldn't throw butts from balcony. It's disgusting!
And, you know, I felt... I felt... I'm not lazy. I got dressed, came down from the seventh floor and had beat all the crap from this mothef%#ker. Another f%#king a-hole...
