Does anyone want this Jake Matthews special?

Also, he is to present a case for this himself in 24 hours, similar to how I treated Polnut in the Broadcast bill.

Yet again, I need to stress that the Secretary is speaking as the Senator that introduced this measure, not as a member of my Cabinet.

I cannot imagine anything vaguely resembling this Bill that I would be comfortable signing.

Do you regard this an "an inconveniance"?

I agree with Polnut on this issue. I think we should improve the quality of the politicians so that they will be willing to make tough decisions, not try to put the budget on auto-pilot. That is my position here and in RL. I used to support a balanced budget, but then I realized it was a convenient tool for porkers to be able to claim they were fiscally responsible. Also, the recession revealed why you don't want a balanced budget amendment, from an economic standpoint.

Are there any changes desired or is this just one of them philosophical things that we should just vote on, get everybody on record and get it over with?

I ask unanimous consent to waive the cloture requirement and proceed immediately to a final vote, Senators have 24 hours to object.

People talked within the last 24 hours on this, so either cloture is needed or this workaround. Both are usefull in different contexts.

With the rules having been suspended, a final vote on passage of the Atlasian National Tax Reduction Act of 2012 is now on the table. Please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

Nay

This has enough votes to fail, Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.

Vote on final passage of the Atlasian National Tax Reduction Act:

Aye (1): Pingvin99
Nay (6): Alfred F. Jones, ILV, NC Yankee, Sbane, Scott, and TJ in Cleve
Abstain (0):

Didn't Vote (3): Clarence, MoPolitico (still a Senator when it started), and Nathan (The new Senate Dean, just like the old one. Tongue)

With six votes in the negative, this bill has failed to pass the Senate.
