Tweed is giving us a reminder of what we'll have to suffer through the next couple months posted unironically.

If Romney wants to do even worse with women voters, then I strongly encourage him to pick Christie.

What? Look, you all know how much I love Christie but the thought that he would be the reason why PA would be a toss up is silly. He is very well liked among Republicans (especially with those of us closest to NJ) but, as a running mate, he isn't liked enough by Independent/swing voters to make a big impact.

Christie is a high-risk choice and he probably hasn't been fully vetted (extra scrutiny must be applied to NJ pols), but the hilarity he'd bring to the race would certainly be positive.

I prefer Corbett over Christie.

Corbett is also a veteran.

He's a good choice. Why is now one touting him?

Sure! Remember when Bentsen delivered Oklahoma to Dukakis in 1988?

Carol Schwartz would make DC a toss-up, she should be on the short list.

He has only been Governor for a year and a half (and this speaks to why Rubio isn't a slam dunk: being a Senator for only a year and a half could bite us) and he isn't that popular.

Yes... yes... Pennsylvania is a toss-up since 1992, which, at the end, always votes Democratic.

NO.

Yes, they do.

Muskie brought Maine to Humphrey which Nixon would otherwise have carried.

Gore might well have tipped Tennessee to Clinton in 1996.

Bricker tipped Ohio to Dewey in 1944.

I think Stevenson brought Illinois to Cleveland in 1892.

Chris Christie as VP would certainly make me a toss up voter. As a candidate, he'll come off twice as abrasive and arrogant as Biden, and will alienate moderates massively.

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that any of those victories were directly related to the veep pick.

Given he lost it when he was at the on the top of the ticket, I'm not sure if that's the case.

Maine was worth four EV's, and the other two I think were too long ago to really count.

Why else would Maine have gone so solidy for Humphrey?
