If Romney indeed picks Christie as his VP then this will be the first time we'd have two all-northern tickets since 1920.

Somebody on Wikipedia had changed it to say Chris Christie. It just got reverted, I think.

If we're defining "Northern" as "not Southern" (and MD/DE aren't Southern), then 2008 is the most recent all-Northern year, if we define it as the contiguous union states during the Civil War, then it's 1972.  Either way, Px is wrong.

South Dakota didn't enter the Union until 1889, and Maryland (Shriver/Agnew) was a neutral state under Union occupation. Nixon was from California, which was a Union state but not contiguous.
