FH.  It let's you hug while retaining freedom to walk with someone.  It's the hug best suited for today's always on the move, gotta keep going, lifestyle.

In this context, horrible hug. The reasoning for it instead of a normal hug is pretty idiotic (instead of just practical reasons as Ernest mentioned), I mean I hug my mom that way and heterosexual girls hug each other that way all the time.

The only common greeting practice I can think of that would be more awkward than this would be dap - and even then it is just because I'm clumsy and suck at memorizing sequences of more than two steps. Perhaps the Christian side hug could be useful while walking as an alternative of sorts to holding a gal's hand but then it is not really a hug of greeting anymore - nor would it be getting used for the appropriate reason. Overall, I can't help but feel this is a horrible method of hugging.

The fact that this is a "thing" disturbs me greatly.  A wiki page and a meme?...le sigh.

The hug of someone that projects 'sex' onto every possible scenario. They will be putting shorts on dogs next.

People don't hug here in Asia, at least not in Thailand.  Such contact is quite taboo.

It's more productive than bashing gays, at least.

considering the bible thinks it is ok to greet each other with a holy kiss (Rom 16:16; 1Cor 16:22; 2Cor 13:12; 1Thes 5:26), this side-hug thingy is nothing but legalistic stupidity.

Seeing as I'm a Christian?  No.  I just don't see how religiously influenced bigotry is any different from regular bigotry.

have you submitted your dissertation regarding biblical boundaries for sexual activity for review, yet? I would like to know when you believe God broadened the context of proper sexual activity to include homosexuality.

The way God made them, of course.  I would like to know when you believe God permitted you to look down on people for their own nature.

Oh come on, surely there are Christians who discard that 'bible'?

thank you, I am free now...and to think all this time I was led to believe Jesus died in order to do away with the nature I was born with as a result of the fall of man.

I thought I was born unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I did not understand what I did. For what I wanted to do I do not do, but what I hated, I did.  And if I did what I do not want to do, I thought that the bible was correct and good.  As it was, I thought it was no longer I myself who do it, but it was sin living in me.  I thought that nothing good lived in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I had the desire to do what is good, but I thought I could not carry it out. For what I did is not the good I wanted to do; no, the evil I did not want to do—that I kept on doing. And I thought that if I did what I do not want to do, it was no longer I who did it, but it is sin living in me that did it.

Thank you for explaining the desires I was born with are good, and that I should want to do the things I previously did not want to do.  Now, I know longer have need of a bible.  I am free to deceive and justify myself to my own content.
