In addition to the obvious moral issues, abolishing could help California's budget issues a bit. Definitely would be the smart thing to do.

By the logic if Texas has a great death penalty usage, then China and Iran should be models to follow in this regard.

Well considering it's not really used in California and is just an expensive and resource-draining form of life in prison, why not just vote to abolish it if you have no real strong attachment to the death penalty?
