Seeing no objection, Scott has assumed sponsorship.

Mr. President, do you support my amendment or wish to make any changes?

I'm surprised this didn't come to a vote yet. Tongue

I have lost my horns, and I can't do much till they are re-acquired. Tongue

Ah, that's right. Tongue

I would suggest a $145 million package over 3 years

$40 million to be directed toward the regions for the recruitment and retention of art/music teachers ($10m yr 1 - $15m yr 2 - $15m yr3)

$50 million for resources - ie supplies and school infrastructure ($15m yr 1, $20m yr 2, $15m yr 3)

$30 million for a national arts program - festivals etc ($5m yr 1, $10m yr 2, $15m yr 3)

$25 million to grants and low-interest loans for arts projects ($8m yr 1, $8m yr 2, $9m yr 3)

Helps deliver, without too much Budgetary impacts.

The amendment is, of course, friendly.

I will oppose anything beyond the recruitment and retention of art and music teachers- that clause provides jobs for people, the others are throwing money for festivals and art projects which are not critical spending

Senators have 24 hours to object to Senator Scott's amendment.

Senator Clarence, is that to be interpreted as an objection to the amendment?

How does the construction of music and art rooms, the sale of supplies, the economic activity for local businesses that come about from festivals... not help the economy and create jobs?

Well technically you were explaining a previous post, since that post pre-dates the objection period, rather then coming after it therefore I will accept the objection.

Amendment vote, probably tomorrow.

Alright- good point Mr. President. You all are much smarter then me...

Mr. President Pro Tem- I appreciate your allowance of my objection- but I will drop it. Much of this money does good and in reality it isn't too much money to spend...I favor the bill as it stands far more then the original bill and I will be voting fo rit
