He's not going to win South Carolina and lose Pennsylvania.  Flip those two and the scenario becomes much more likely, though Romney would have to put a lot of effort into Ohio at the expense of Georgia and North Carolina.

This thread does have the right spirit, I think.  People are underestimating how poorly Romney will play among the suburb whites in the sunbelt.

Absolutely not.  No way would he lose PA if he won GA and SC.

Wait...are you implying that Obama will win suburban southern whites?

Obama can win the entire east coast if he holds on to every 2008 state, plus Indiana, Missouri, Arizona and Montana. Then SC and Georgia will fall behind him, but it's not likely.

This scenario could be likely in 2016 or 2020

Republican primary results say otherwise.  Romney's best places in the South were in the suburbs around major cities.

I agree with this. Romney winning PA while losing SC is a bridge too far though.

Not gonna happen.

Maybe in the future, though.

Sure, against Santorum/Gingrich.

This is the map where Obama is way up in the polls, but on election day a major lake effect blizzard has dumped several feet of snow on northern Ohio and southern Pennsylvania, preventing anyone from voting in those areas.

And again against Obama, certainly, but you know that already.

Not this year. I could see this happening in 2016/2020 and beyond, but not yet.

Unless the black population mysteriously grows by 25% in GA and SC, and the white Southerners move to OH and PA in large numbers it isn't happening.
