For the record, I don't believe either of my opponents can be considered fascists.

Anyone can be "considered" a fascist by someone or other. Wink

I've taken the oath of office, and am beginning my final term in the Senate!  As always, my office is open 24/7, so feel free to comment!

As a start, it is currently my plan to vote in FAVOR of all cabinet nominees EXCEPT for Griffin for GM.

The Senate is not being unreasonable to request a GM without partisan affiliations.  Griffin has been an exceptionally effective Labor Chairman.  However, the position of GM cannot have a partisan position like Chairmen.  This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  The tone of this debate has become unnecessarily acrimonious, considering the relative ease with which the Senate's concerns can be addressed.

And yet, if Griffin does exactly the same work as he is doing now, and exactly the same advocacy as he's doing now, but just sheds his official title, that is somehow acceptable.

No, it isn't.  But I can't create those conditions yet.

Welcome Senator ! A good answer to all those who are accusing you of "moderate heroism" throughout the forum !

Is Labor going to be the largest party in the Senate soon ? That would be unexpected...

There's nothing wrong with being a moderate hero. A little pragmatism from both sides is a lot better than blind devotion to the talking points of the extremes.

I'd argue that pragmatism and being a moderate hero are two distinctly different things.  I always understood being a moderate hero to mean someone who frequently whines and complains about everything being to divisive and partisan in a holier-than-thou fashion, irrespective of the actual matter at hand (the classic RL example being Evan Bayh).  On the other hand, a pragmatist (I know I'm over-simplifying this a bit) is essentially someone who believes it is generally better to have half a loaf than it is to have no bread.

I guess what I was getting at is that the words "moderate hero" are thrown around a lot lately, but most of the time it's coming from people who could just as easily be called "party hacks." Except no one calls them that because there's some inherent respect for the fact that they've been able to "pick a side."

I would've joined the Moderate Hero Collective. Too bad it didn't come to fruition.

Yes, Ben, thank you being a fight for The People during your time in office. But it's okay. You can now join me and together we can walk into the sunset, until this game ultimately pulls us back in once again.
