Spanish prime ministers

Adolfo Suárez González (1976-1981), Union of the Democratic Centre, UCD (eliminated in round 5)

Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo y Bustelo (1981-1982), Union of the Democratic Centre, UCD (eliminated in round 3)

Felipe González Márquez (1982-1996), Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, PSOE

José María Aznar López (1996-2004), People's Party, PP (eliminated in round 2)

José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (2004-2011), Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, PSOE (eliminated in round 4)

Mariano Rajoy Brey (2011-), People's Party, PP (eliminated in round 1)

Round 1, normal round

My vote: Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo y Bustelo

Aznar is a truly horrible person, but I vote to eliminate Rajoy, simply because he is Prime Minister for little over four months now.

While Calvo Sotelo had a relatively brief term, he was an important figure during Spanish transition. No way I'm voting to outs him now.
Almost six actually. Calvo Sotelo has to go relatively soon as a short termer, so I picked him. Giving Rajoy a chance. CS played an important role, but his party imploded under his watch. Not saying he could have prevented that, but still it counts against him.

I tend to forget about the survivor, sorry people... and thanks, politicus, if it weren't you, this thread would be dead.
Thanks Cool Hope you have time to visit my two Scandinavian PM threads some time, always in need of players.

Result of round 3, Cavelo-Solta unanimously eliminated!

Round 4, semifinale

Zapaterro, even though he was a true modernizer and a good PM all in all.

But Suarez vs. Felipe is the right finale!

Result of round 4 (semifinale)

Zapatero 5
Suarez 1

Zapatero eliminated. Kinda sad to see him go - most likable of them IMO.

In the finale:

Suarez vs. Felipe Gonzalez

Two great men. Suarez laid the ground work for Spanish democracy, and Felipe built on his legacy, but still its hard to vote against as important and charismatic a leader as Felipe.

My vote: Felipe for survivor

Suarez for the win, just to put my little mess here Tongue

(but if there's a miraculous tie, please discount my vote, of course: I haven't taken part in this game, because we did it already many months ago, so I'm not entitled to alter the balance set by the loyal voters)
Yeah, I saw there was a Spanish prime ministers survivor, that ended 26 July 10. But thats almost two years ago and it had Caballero as survivor, so it was broader than just the post-Franco PMs.

Its tied 4-4 at the moment. Big bad fab said I should disregard his vote in case of a tie, but I would prefer a regular majority, so Ill keep it open for a little longer.

Since all the regulars have voted I hereby declare Felipe González Márquez for survivor with a narrow 5-4 victory over Adolfo Suarez.
