As the great American Senator Dick Lugar would say...

Why not a flat tax? Wink

One of the things I agree with both Lugar and the VP.

not while I have breath in my body and the strength to sign a pen Tongue

How about we remove all taxes (including payroll, estate, and capital gains) with a 9% business transaction tax, a 9% personal income tax, and a 9% federal sales tax? It's simple, transparent, and fair. It's a solutions revolution!

Hmmm.... I wonder if we vetted you properly.

I was entirely properly vetted for SoEA, a job which, while including several important functions, has the added benefit of keeping me far, far away from anything to do with our tax code Tongue

I forgot to mention, you can get income tax credits for charitable donations and for living in an empowerment zone. PM me if you want the empowerment zones gerrymandered to include your place of residence.

I’m going to give this another try (my last amendment is withdrawn). Since it isn’t financially feasible to cut out the 60% bracket entirely without coming up with more cuts, I’m proposing to split the difference and make it 55%. Here’s my newest amendment attempt:

Sorry for making this much more complicated than it needs to be.

I'm withdrawing all of my previous amendments and just proposing this:

Careful... based off of this, it looks like you can pay nothing if you have over $2.5 M. Tongue
