By that I mean Jews who have converted to Mormonism.  And there are Jews who, in fact, have converted to Mormonism.

We know that the Jewish vote has been predominantly, and in most cases, overwhelmingly and reliably, Democratic for decades.

But how do Jews who have converted to Mormonism vote in the 2012 Presidential election?

It should be pretty evenly divided, I think.

One will vote for Romney, and the other for Obama.

There is no such thing as a Jewish Mormon. There might be ex-Jews that convert to Mormonism (not many of course but I'm sure there's a few, no more odd than black Mormons), but one can not be Jewish and Mormon any more than you can be both Wiccan and Baptist.

Is it possible to have two religions? Because I thought if you converted out of a religion, you are no longer a member of that religion.

Yes that should be common sense. I can see someone being split between two or more different denominations in a religion, but not in two different religions.

Yeah exactly. I knew a girl back in HS who has both Baptist/Methodist, and I grew up Catholic, and knew people at my church that were both Catholic/Baptist. This however was because they had both parents of two different denominations. Being part of two different religions however is just farfetched.

I suppose there are syncretic religions, but I'm having a difficult time imagining what a syncretic Jewish/Mormon one would be like.

I can't imagine how life not eating pork and drinking coffee would be like.

Did you even bother to read the first sentence in the OP, or just the title?

It's a Winfield post. I have a habit of zoning out the content of those.

But it would be inaccurate to describe the maybe five people who would fit the criteria in the OP as "Jewish Mormons".

Actually we might be able to get a rough estimate of the number of converts to Mormonism from Judaism in the US. There are approximately 6 million Mormons in the US. I remember reading that half of all adult Mormons are converts. Mormons have lots of kids and big families, so let's assume a good third of those are kids, leaving 4 million adult Mormons. That means 2 million people have converted to Mormonism. Meanwhile the last estimate of the percentage of Jews in the US I've found is 1.7% of the population. So 1.7% of 2 million is about 34,000 converts from Judaism to Mormonism. In contrast there are 57k people in my community in Minneapolis alone.

But since converts tend to be the most zealous of a religion's followers, I'd imagine most of those 34k will be voting Romney.

While it's not really made explicit on the website, this group apparently has a lot of ethnic Jews who converted to Mormonism:

There are about two intelligent posts here following the original post.

The rest are.....well, I don't want to be rude.

There are those Native American Mormons who think they're Jews.

There's also no such thing as an 'ex-Jew', any more than there is an 'ex-Kalmyk' or an 'ex-Cherokee' or an 'ex-Anglo-Saxon'.

That would drive me to drink... except that that too is prohibited.

If a Jew converts to Mormonism, than he is a Mormon and thus not Jewish.  Winfield might as well start asking how "Calvinist Buddhists" and "Catholic Muslims" vote.

There are a lot of Jews that are converted posthumously by the Mormon church.  Are you referring to what the zombie Jewish Mormons would vote for?
