The thing is, Florida and Michigan were assumed to have no delegates at the time of the contests. Weren't they?

Yes I'm just including them for now

Clinton leads Mccain in Summer polling
   Clinton                    Mccain
    49%                        44%

MSNBC Map

Analysis:  Hillary Clinton seems to be gaining back the southern democrats that voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Clinton is leading in our polling by 9 points (50-41) in Arkansas and is 1 point behind in Kentucky (47-46) and Tennessee (48-47). even being only 8 points behind in Oklahoma (47-39) and 4 in Louisiana (49-45). The black vote is slowly snuggling up towards Clinton but not in record numbers (70-20). Clinton is dominating with the Hispanic vote like she did in the primaries (66-27). Clinton's VP picks could be Barack Obama even though there might be some hard feeling towards themselves or it could be someone like Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, or Tim Kaine. On the Republican side it could be Sam Brownback, Joe Lieberman, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney or Mark Sanford.

Clinton picks Senator Evan Bayh!

Senator Clinton at DNC

"You never gave in. You never gave up. And together we made history. Thank you so much. God bless America and Godspeed to you all."

Post Convention Map and Poll

Analysis: Mccain is losing lots of the Moderates and even some conservatives after the Bayh pick. Tennessee and up is pure Clinton country or at least tossup at this point. Clinton now leads Whites by 6 points and Hispanics by 71-23 and African Americans by 84-13

Great so far, though I think McCain would have at least a toss-up for CO and NV; Obama was really the only democrat they'd go for this time around.  Anyway, more please!  Wink

The DNC was in Colorado so I gave it an edge to Clinton and Hispanics voted for Clinton over Obama in the primaries even real life and would help her with Nevada.

Mccain picks Governor Sarah Palin!!

Sarah Palin at RNC

John Mccain at RNC

"Stand up to defend our country from its enemies. Stand up for each other, for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America.
Thank you, and God bless you, and God bless America."

Post convention Map and Poll

Analysis: John Mccain's pick of Sarah Palin was a big shocker and very big move for the campaign. It moved all the reliable states that were heading towards voting for Clinton to now looking 100% safe for Mccain since picking the strong conservative Palin getting much of the Reagan Democrats back in his column. Whites have went back to mccain by 8 points now in our latest poll with African Americans not moving at all 82-15 for Clinton and Hispanics making a move toward Mccain but still voting for Clinton 64-32.

First presidential debate (University of Mississippi)

Analysis: Clinton seemed more comfortable on this topic than McCain, and it showed. Polling shows that voters have more confidence in Clinton than McCain when it comes to the economy. McCain, though, warmed up as the discussion turned to his turf: foreign policy. When it comes to terrorism and Iraq, voters prefer McCain over Clinton. Clinton sought to tie McCain to the Bush administration. CNN polling reported Clinton won the debate overall by a margin of 54-35.

Vice presidential debate (Washington University in St. Louis)

Analysis: Analysis: Palin spoke in greatest depth about energy policy while Bayh spoke in greatest depth about foreign affairs. Bayh refrained from criticizing Palin, concentrating his criticisms on McCain. While Palin offered brief criticism of Bayh, she concentrated most of her criticism on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Polls suggested that 50% thought Senator Bayh won the debate, 21% thought Governor Palin had won, and 33% thought it was a tie.

October 7: Second presidential debate (Belmont University – Nashville townhall)

Analysis: Clinton bashed Mccain for his connections with the bush administration and Mccain had a stubbly response. CNN's poll conducted after the debate found that 54% of those surveyed thought that Clinton had won and 30% felt McCain had won.

October 15: Third presidential debate (Hofstra University – Hempstead, New York)

Analysis: During the debate repeated references were made to Joe Wurzelbacher, aka "Joe the Plumber". Wurzelbacher had spoken with Clinton while he was campaigning in Holland, Ohio. Clinton responded saying "under my plan proposed taxes on any revenue from $250,000 on down would stay the same, but that amounts above that level would be subject to a 39 percent tax, instead of the current 36 percent rate". People responded heavly for Senator Clinton by 60-29 Percent. Mccains attacks on Clinton didn't help him with Independent or Women Voters.

Election Night 2008!

Chris Matthews: Welcome to Election Night 2008 I'm Chris Matthews here with us is Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow, Eugene Robinson and David Gregory. Well this has been a crazy and exciting election season but it is finally time for election night where acros this country people will be voting for Hillary clinton or John Mccain for President. Polls have suggested a Hillary Clinton landslide but can John Mccain have picked up momentum at the end to pull off a win? We will have to see. After tonight we will know if we have our first Women President or Vice President. Polls have closed in Indiana Kentucky and Vermont and we can Call Vermont easily to Senator Clinton with 3 electoral votes. No surprise here, in Kentucky it is too close to call at this hour. Polls suggested Clinton narrowing the gap, if Mccain loses this state its a wipeout for Clinton. In Indiana, Senator Bayh's home state, it is too close to call with clinton narrowly ahead.
