Fmr. DC Mayor Marion Barry and DC Council Member for Ward 8 of the city has now offended Polish American's while simultaneously apologizing to Asian-Americans for comments he made about small grocery store owners in Washington.

As during the course of his apology he called Polish people "Polacks"

It was a derogary term for Polish immigrants before and after WWII. Didn't know it was used outside Quebec.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but you are one dumb polack."

Archie Bunker used the word quite liberally interacting with his liberal son in law Mike.

Funny, how russky and polack have been used as slurs. Nobody would be trying to insult a gringo here by calling him "un ameriken". Well, then, I guess, yanqui is not much of an endearment term either.

I saw the title "Fmr. DC Mayor Marion Bary..."--I expected it to be finished with "dies of a crack overdose". I thought he was prison!

He was in prison in the nineties, but got out, ran for mayor again and won, and is now a councilman for Ward 8.

I wonder what bitch set him up this time.

This man isn't a standup comedian, but Arlen Specter is? Sh*t.

It's been tried a couple of times.

Marion Barry to Ward 8 is like how Robert Byrd was to WV; he is viewed as someone who delivers for those he represents. He is beloved by the residents there and they will support him to the end whether is right or wrong.

Well that and they probably agree with his racist views.

The older ones (remember, Barry is in his 70s)? Yeah, probably. The younger ones aren't likely to agree with him though, since their experiences in race and ethnicity are completely different than 40 or 50 years ago.

This -also, as a Mississippi Delta native who came straight up out of poverty himself, Barry has long been looked down upon by the black elite within the city.  As an outsider and as a civil rights activist, he has endeared himself to the black working- and under-classes.  They will forever be loyal to him no matter what he says or does.

I dare you to come to DC and visit a place like Ward 8 for a few days; see if the view's of the younger generation living there has changed any.

Hint-Ward 8 is the most economically deprived and crime ridden part of the city. Education here makes the public school system in a place like Mississippi look great.
