Picking Huntsman would be very dangerous for Romney's safety.

McDonnell's name seems to be floating around more recently than in previous weeks. Thoughts?

The only place I've seen McDonnell's name in regards to the VP search is this thread, and I think it will stay here.

Martinez to me is seeming more like a solid choice. It is difficult to say whether she would help greatly in the Midwest, but I think the overall boost with women, independents, and Latinos would benefit Romney to no end. She may lack experience nationally, but has a recognizably strong and solid profile among her constituents.

Rice benefits in much the same way, but lacks the opportunity that Martinez has: to strongly define herself nationally. This has already been done, and while some view the Bush baggage as a hurdle easily overcome, I remain skeptical. However, the benefits/hindrances of a Rice nomination have already been well stated.

At this point I strongly believe a Portman, Pawlenty, or Jindal is just not going hard enough at the big O. They might help in a few key areas, but fail to attract big numbers across the board.

Ryan is my choice for a safe bet, but as an outsider looking in, it is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine Romney cobbling together enough states without a game changer. Sorry to those that feel otherwise, but to bank this election on a couple of states swing voters instead of a large-scale pitch to all Americans seems like a poor choice on Boston's part.

Whatever happened to Lindsey Graham as an option? Is it really only because he's single and has never been married?

I'm not sure the base would be accepting of a Mormon/Gay ticket. That won't be for a few more decades.

How about someone who can really garner support? Plus she's got lots of time on her hands now.

I'm all for Rob Portman. Not only does he have Swiss roots but he's also launched the "Friends of Switzerland Caucus" together with Rep. Tammy Baldwin back in 2003 (Sen. Portman chairs the caucus with Sen. Klobuchar). It would be nice to have an ally of Switzerland in the White House!

I am hoping for a surprise pick with military experience... perhaps some one like General Peter Pace, former Chairman JCS. However- I believe Rubio would be the finest pick aside from some one like that... heis young, dynamic, and would inspire millions of Latinos especially in my state

Former Governor Ed Rendell (D-PA) has made his pick for VP.

I love this man. Tongue

I think Clint Eastwood would make a good VP as well.
