Haven't checked the boards for a while, so I'm late.  But I thought it would be interesting anyway.  These are dated population figures, of course, and likely differ from when I lived in each place.  But, here 'goes.

Dickinson, North Dakota             17,787 (2010)
Grand Forks, North Dakota         52.838 (2010)
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania     1,526,006 (2010)
Glenside, Pennsylvania                 8,384 (2010)
Tuebingen, Germany                  82,885 (2002)
Tokyo, Japan                         8,653,000 (2007-estimate)
Evanston, Illinois                        74,486 (2010)
Carbondale, Illinois                     25,902 (2010)
Halifax, Nova Scotia                  359,183 (2011)

Average:  1,200,052

It never ceases to amaze me how Tokyo continues to throw things in my life way, way off...  Smiley  Had it not been on the list, the average population of cities I've lived in would be 268,434.  Of course, given the fact that the Shinjuku train station in downtown Tokyo sees approximately (by very rough estimates) 3.3 million people enter and exit per day, I guess this skewing of averages is understandable, at least...

Stark County, North Dakota                                    24,321  (2010)
Cass County, North Dakota                                   150,230  (2010)
Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania                     1,526,006  (2010)
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania                       801,502  (2010)
Südwürttemberg-Hohenzollern, Germany           1,805,146 (2005)
Tokyo Prefecture, Japan                                   13.047,446 (2010)
Cook County, Illinois                                          5,194,675 (2010)
Jackson Country, Illinois                                         69,361 (2010)
Halifax County, Nova Scotia                                  403.437 (2010)

Since this is county data, the average is just too boring for me to calculate.

1,193,415.43.  Copy and paste on excel, and using the text to columns utility, is a beautiful thing anvi. I did it in 30 seconds flat. Smiley

Humanities Ph.D.s like me don't know how to use Excel, Torie. That's why nobody should want us to do things like get involved in arguments about university budgets.  Tongue  Good job, though!
