I don't mind communists and am no red-baiter but is it true that there have been members of congress who have had past ties to CPUSA?

A few I've heard of off the top of my head:
Gus Hawkins D-CA 1963-1990
Parren Mitchell D-MD 1971-1986
George Crockett D-MI 1981-1990
Charles Porter D-OR 1957-1960
Ted Weiss D-NY 1977-1992

Ron Dellums might have had CPUSA ties. He did describe himself as a socialist, after all.

Socialist and Communist are two different things (although I don't know what context Dellums said that in so, who knows).

Probably in the context of being a member of the DSOC, which was not exactly full of fellow travellers.
