I actually think Ireland is the one team he would shine against.

But that's what you get with the DFB's best-rated refs, to a man.)
What do you mean by this? Shouldn't a good rating indicate fair refereeing?

Looks like, for once, Italy didn't suffer from its legendary bad luck. Wink

Balotelli's goal was truly impressive, and even though we didn't score many goals this proves we can do a good job. Let's surprise everybody again, like in 2006 ! Smiley

I feel a bit sad for Croats though. They were clearly better than Spain this time, and the referee wasn't exactly fair toward them (don't know if it's bias or a genuine mistake, let's assume the later).

Now, let's hope we get France to beat once again. Grin

So if Spain had not been awarded this off-side goal, they would have finished second and if they had reached the semifinal, they would have likely faced Germany. Again, "interesting" decision by the referee...

I didn't see off-side but there was a possible penalty in Spanish area (it was a bit strange that Croatian players didn't protest) and, of course, Casillas saved at least one clear goal. Horrible match from Spanish side.

I feel better about what I called a poor German performance after seeing Spain tonight. They sure got lucky.

Tomorrow should be fun to watch. Part of me wants France to win their group (and have Italy meet them in the Quarter finals) because of the rivalry. The other part wants England since our chances of progressing are better. Also, while I'm always livid whenever we're eliminated regardless of who beats us, I'd be slightly less pissed if the English won. I wouldn't be thrilled with having to face Ukraine in Kiev.

What do you mean by this? Shouldn't a good rating indicate fair refereeing?

Just for context, Craig Thomson is the SPL's top ref.

Casillas, my hero!!! Fábregas was also great at the very end of the match.

These last 2 days have really featured rather poor football, even if the England game is somewhat entertaining.

France-Sweden has been pretty boring so far. Both teams seem quite inactive.

People are whining that the goal line referees are useless/haven't gotten any calls right this tournament? Uh...they must have missed yesterday's Cassano goal. They certainly got that right. To be fair, there haven't been many close calls this tournament anyway.

If they get one right and one wrong then that is no better than a monkey, better just to put in cameras and be done with it.
