Why do people still compare him to Stewart?  Sure, Colbert was a spin off from his show, but the style is completely different.  Colbert's is deadpan satire, and Stewart's is arm-flailing and face-pulling, and not even satirical in the slightest.  He relies on his 'correspondents' for that.

Agreed on that.  I find Stewart to be a bore.

Jon Stewart's style of comedy is very intellectually-based. It's "Smart Comedy" so it's gonna make you think before you laugh. Stephen Colbert is a punchline comedian, so he can make more people laugh...without thinking.

Stewart isn't actually smart enough about politics for his "intellectually-based" humor to work though, IMHO.  It's "smart" humor for college-age kids whose only exposure to the news is via Stewart's show.

Yeah. Stewart tries to play moderate hero a bit too often, and it comes off as awkward.
