He's not - his party's candidates came first in two constituencies and second in the third, and are in runoffs vs Temaru's guys everywhere.

Nobody outside French Polynesia understands politics over there, so our hunches there were naturally wrong. I went safe by just betting on the "right" in general (like most people did), which doesn't make lots of sense in the local context, but which seems to be a correct descriptor for Flosse's party. The third constituency, a new creation, appears to be the most nationalist one on paper, so I wouldn't be surprised if the UPLD won there.

Wallis and Futuna has pretty confusing clan politics as well, while New Caledonian politics are more understandable and interesting.

Leaks from the Benelux say that Marie-Anne Montchamp, the UMP candidate and former cabinet minister, would be third and out by the first round. I wonder how Dodo is doing. Is he going to lose another election?

The PS coming that close with French people in Switzerland (and even Belgium)... what has the world come to?

PS is apparently quite a bit ahead of the UMP in the Italy-Israel gerrymander (which was Sarko's best constituency). lolump.

Thierry Mariani (UMP) apparently dominates in Hong Kong, but in Japan he's third with 87 votes behind the PS (121) and EELV (90).

It would be quite hilarious if Mariani lost.

If Coronado is elected, I'll probably commit suicide.

These constituencies have been decided 2 years ago and, in the UMP, they weren't able to make a good work on the field ?... Bah...
But, nevertheless, let's remember that Marleix himself said it would be balanced between left and right in these "French abroad" constituencies.

The turnout is disgusting, especially when I see how my vote will be wasted next Sunday.
God, I'm really angry.
Some general counsellors are beaten with more votes...

Don't lose hope too soon, Fab. There might very well be a "landslide backfire" in the second round, like in 2007.

Here they are.

To Antonio: I know that, anyway, that's not an anticipation of results in France itself, fortunately. It's just that, giving ELEVEN seats to French abroad was a bit excessive Tongue
And that, if the PS has a majority on its own only because he'll win 5, 6 or even 7 seats abroad, it could be full of irony on the trick from the right about these new seats... Sad Wink

Dominique Paillé: 2,79% !!!
Could we imagine such a tremendous success ?
Now, it's probably one of the biggest individual political stories of all time...

Everything isn't lost for the right in the 3rd and the 4th (it will be very hard, but it's still possible), while Coronado may well win in the 2nd. Disgusting.
Globaly, EE-LV is doing very well. I hate bobos, wherever they live Tongue
The biggest surprise is that the 8th seems to be lost for the UMP... OMG.
And Mariani isn't safe at all.

I'm already wrong on the 10th, as Marsaud has beaten all the DVD candidates and made it to the 2nd round. Fortunately, he should prevail and the seat should be on the right anyway.

lolump. I won't shed tears that they received a huge middle fingers from the 5 voters who bothered showing up, given that these constituencies were an awful political tactic which backfired epically.

But above all, hearty congratulations to Dodo on such an astounding result. Even a gay Muslim atheist socialist in Alabama would win more votes than you did!

Who is Sergio Coronado and why is he bad?

You don't know me, but I'm a French social conservative.
Coronado is probably my exact antithesis (well, just after Philippe Meirieu, EE-LV candidate in Rhône: I would have voted for the PRG candidate , Braillard, had I lived there ! Grin).

And seeing him winning in those ridiculous "French abroad" constituencies is outrageous. In any Metropole constituency, he would have been trounced...

But the right has played with fire. And when you play with fire... Sad
