Still doesn't change the fact that he's just the equivalent of a standard European conservative.

He didn't mention anything about the political spectrum in New York or Cuomo's place in it.

This guy really is a textbook New Democrat, isn't he? Continually sell out left-wing economic principles and get American liberals by being on the forefront on social issues. He's very impressive.

Decriminalization /= Legalization, and the latter is what would seriously force change.  I'm not even sure if this is a good thing, because it encourages the ridiculous halfway house status marijuana is growing into.  Either make it legal or illegal (and by that, I mean make it legal).  Making it kind of sort of illegal but not really is the worst of both worlds, as it doesn't eliminate the criminal subculture that benefits off of marijuana trade and it doesn't provide the tax bonanza that sin taxes involved with legalization would.  My ideal solution would be for marijuana to join alcohol in "you can buy it at 7-11 or CVS with an appropriate over 21 ID" status, which would utterly devastate drug dealers who make a good share of their money off of pot and decouple marijuana from the criminal element completely.

Keep FFing, Governor.

This board definitely doesn't represent how mainstream America thinks.

Unfortunately for mainstream America. In President Cuomo's America, they'll be able to smoke all the weed they want while their wages decline, income inequality continues to explode, and the schools they send their children to get worse and worse. Hooray.

Roll Eyes

2016's going to be a funny year for some people if Cuomo runs and wins this.

This. Decriminalization keeps the supply in the hands of criminals and does nothing to protect users. If legalized it could be taxed, which would far offset any negative health effects. (Although personally, I think marijuana should be legal from 18 and same for alcohol)

I care more about aid to homeless children than the right to smoke a joint. He's a socially liberal Chris Christie.

Cuomo is not a right winger. Smash is more left wing than you and he would agree, you clearly don't know what is going on in New York.

Now when Bloomberg infringes on your second and fourth amendment rights, at least you won't be arrested for a very small amount of pot. He's still hardly an FF.
