Yeah, I'm creating this thread now. There's never an off season. Wink  Plus, qualifying has been under way in all areas except Europe anyway.

Use this thread to discuss the qualifying process for all confederations (though the superior confederation - UEFA - ought to dominate conversation).

I hope this is America's year. It's time we dominated soccer like we dominate basketball, baseball, American football, and golf. Wink

Ok.

Don't worry Duke, it's gonna be. Of course haters like Phil won't like it, but no one ever said that loving America was easy.

The chest beaters are still steaming over not being allowed to compete in the Euros! How dare those Europeans!

Spain will win this thing, again. I'll be in Brazil rooting from.the,.

Spanish fans have become the most unbearable. Yeah, they have a great team. Yeah, they're history makers. But the cockiness makes you almost forget that they had a long history of being the biggest joke underachievers.

You're going to be that arrogant two years before the tournament, Julio? Ok. Just remember that when you guys fall, it's going to be hard.

Belgium certainly has a shot at advancing to the play off. Croatia starts out as a slight favorite to win the group but this is still one of the most wide open - if not the most - of the groups. Even Scotland could advance to the playoff.

Italy has jumped six spots to sixth place in the (usually silly) FIFA rankings. Smiley

England is up to fourth.

Yeah but Italy could beat Australia. Remember that game in 2006?

Rejoice! UEFA begins qualifying today! Smiley

Here's hoping Italy comes away with a nice away win against Bulgaria. I do hope they save some goals for Tuesday though. Cheesy

Europe is back to action today. I think Russia vs. Portugal will be the most interesting match.

Minutes after the Czechs go up 1-0 at home, Malta equalizes! The Czechs might be going back to joke status soon. Smiley

Opening five minutes and we're looking great. Could have scored three goals by now especially after Pirlo's free kick.

Nice away win though some improvement is needed. Tuesday is big. Glad Bulgaria-Denmark is tied now.  Wink

If only those AS Romans could score like that in Serie A.... >.>

No thanks. Tongue

Bosnia drawing in Greece is also a big result. That should be their toughest match. Should be a nice fight between them, Greece and Slovakia for group winner and runner up.

Buffon picked up a minor muscular problem in training so he may be out for two or three days. He is doubtful for tomorrow but of course he'll be back in time for Napoli vs. Juve. Sad

Though if he's out tomorrow, Napoli's De Sanctis will get the start. It would be nice to see him get some time.

Russia just avoided a major embarrassment at home against Azerbaijan thanks to a penalty kick goal in the final minutes.

I know it's unrelated but the U-21 Euro playoff round is wrapping up with a flood of goals. Italy is leading Sweden 3-2 in Sweden in the 90th minute and France is down 5-3 in Norway.
