I am unaware that Iran is threatening to wipe Palestine off the map. Source, please?

Who said anything about Iran? Last time I checked, Israel isn't exactly a friend of Palestinian national sovereignty.

Quoting for PiT's OP and for his rebuttal.

The reason the treaty was proposed was due to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons and thus posing a real threat to Israel's very existance. It formalizes our current ties with them and sends a message that we stand with them.

The "Iran will nuke Israel" meme is a bit overdone. I've never seen any clear evidence that the leadership of Iran is particularly self-destructive. They bluster a lot, but the contention of the warhawks is evidently that they are completely detached from reality and lacking any tendency towards self-preservation. The contention is not credible, for the obvious reason that the Iranian regime still exists after 33 years in power.

Besides, my point still stands. Israel is a real threat to the existence of Palestine. Therefore, I propose that we stand with the Palestinians in their quest for statehood.

The bill is codifying what we've been doing as standard policy for years now. It's not that we aren't friends with the Palestinians, it's the fact we are standing with a friend against a bully in the region. If the Jordanians would accept their rightful citizens back then this could be resolved without firing a shot,
