Didn't we just have a gubernatorial election like a month and a half ago, or am I imagining it?

You are right, the last gubernatorial election was only around a month and a half ago and this campaign has started unusually early. I expect things to cool down a bit in the next weeks, however. The second half of August and September will be decisive.

I like both Zuwo and Tmth, but this race could use a left-wing candidate.

This is actually a very good idea. When two equally conservative candidates battle for the governorship, a good candidate of the left could have an advantage. If someone like HappyWarrior gives it a try, the race will become even more exciting.

You're right - it'd be similar to the Presidential race, where we had a conservative, moderate, and liberal candidate running (and who could forget Tweed Wink).

Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's a liberal in our region who would be willing to run, much less have a serious shot at winning, considering the nature of our region.

Very true.  I think I may be one of the more well known and popular liberals in the region and unless there was a serious conservative vote split I doubt I could win, as shown by the recent poll conducted.

But that's exactly what's happening in this race at the moment. Wink

Whig poll spammers just like the Senate race.

Proof?

The Mideast Elections Consolidation Statute says the following about the determination of the winner in regional (non-Assembly) elections:

https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/A.R._2:_The_Mideast_Elections_Consolidation_Statute#Section_1:_Votes_2

So the way I understand this section, in a hypothetical gubernatorial election where we have three candidates (candidate A, candidate B, candidate C), the candidate with the highest number of first preferences, regardless of whether he receives an absolute majority of all votes cast, wins. Thus, if the result was like this:

Candidate A: 7 first preferences
Candidate B: 6 first preferences
Candidate C: 5 first preferences

candidate A would be the winner.
