It should be pointed out that BMI is a bit of a dubious system.

True, consider that Bale on the left is only considered a bit underweight and on the right he is obese. Things like body fat percentage and even waist size or waist to hip ratio are better indicators.

24.5, & commonly criticized by my friends for being too skinny. Evidently the forum is full of walking skeletons. Tongue

Yeah, it doesn't take into account whether or not you are big-boned and does not differentiate between muscle and fat.

I do have a big bone.

the BMI is really misleading... it doesn't take bone density, muscle mass into account, just height v weight... every gym trainer I've known thinks it's bollocks and makes people think they're fat when they're actually perfectly healthy for their body.

26, I suppose that's what you get when you eat complete junk but make a point of walking instead of driving whenever possible.

I'll be the one to buck that trend.  According to my doctor this past Saturday, 30 June 2012 - I have a BMI of a whopping 41.  I'm far from a walking skeleton.  I'm a plump jackolantern!

It's a useful tool for studying a whole population. Not so much for the individual.  I'm at the high end of overweight, about 29. It would be great for me to lose about 25 pounds, but short of historic famine, there's no way I'll ever drop enough to get out of overweight.

My BMI is more than yours. That's a bet you can take all the way to the bank.
