I bet all the non-American stations covering this (except for the ones in America's butt-buddies like South Korea) at least used the word "Palestine" on the air.

Canada said it. They skipped one country, Bahrain, here.

The BBC gave it a mention, and pointed out that it's not technically a country.

Great job to the US and French women's football today! I catched the US-Colombia for half an hour before heading out this afternoon, and saw their two last goals, both of which were pretty sweat. And France trounced the North Koreans 5-0.

Handball is such a great sport. The women's France-Norway game today was epic.

I watched a lot today - cycling, archery, women's basketball, women's volleyball, tennis, and swimming.

My favorite moment was actually the archery finals against the Italians. Disappointed we lost, but still great.

Everyone I know does.

I enjoyed watching women's volleyball, women's soccer, and swimming today. If the Olympics are this entertaining so far, then I am willing to do nothing else for 2 weeks but just watch almost every event as possible.

Before I opened this thread, I had never seen or heard anybody not working in the media claim that he has ever watched an Olympic opening ceremony. I swear that this is true. (And I know that quite a lot of people do, though less than the actual competitions. It's just that I would have idly wondered who these people are, would I actually care.)

I'd say about a quarter of the people I know would've watched it live, and another quarter at the delayed time. I'm a bit crazier than normal about the Olympics, but the average Aussie feels that the Games are as big as the average Argentinean feels about the World Cup.

Really? I know their claims of "2 billion people watched this" are grossly inflated, but it's still a lot of people that do.

Women's team final in the archery very damp. China looking to continue their great start to these games, although they usually fade in the second week with few team sports successes, along with a surge to be expected by Russia and the US in athletics.

I remember that the Austrian commentator said twice that 4 Bio. people would watch this.

I don't think that 4 Bio. people even have a TV ...

Swimming is really amazing tonight. Two world records from two finals, and so far two Australian medals

Make that two world and one olympic record, from three continents. Here's hoping to add a fourth in the mens 4x100 relay, the Aussie team looks pretty strong, but serious challenges from France and, of course, the USA.
