Man, that soccer game yesterday sure was a heartbreaking match Sad Canada always brings their A game against the US in these major tournaments, but they've not won yet.

riiiiiiiiggggggeeeeeeeeeeedddd
You can't hold the ball for 11 seconds.  It's a rule*.  She broke it.

Good game by the ladies though, very little to no diving.  If only male soccer players were as tough as the women.

SHOCK GOLD TO AUSTRALIA!

Go boys! We thought we might just get a medal, maybe maybe...but it's gold by half a length in the men's K4! What a way to start the proceedings Smiley

The commentators were highly biased on spent the last 200m just yelling 'GO BOYS!' and have been speechless since, but I doubt anyone would blame them, we won! The best golds are the shocks Smiley

Canada vs. France, US vs. Japan game day today. But I'll miss both because I'm working. Nonetheless, allez les Bleues and GO USA.

It's a rule that's seldomly called though. So, it seems suspicious that it would be used then.

Oh well, time to re-group. Canada vs France right now for bronze. Go Canada Go. (and go Japan!)

0-0 at half time. France has a slight edge though in play so far.

Good for Canada Smiley

In a real sport, Australia are playing excellently against Germany, but the scores are tied up at 1-1 near half time. In the BNX, looks like we'll get at least two, perhaps 3 guys in to the semis.

And Ireland have a gold.  Congrats to Katie Taylor, pretty incredible run of victories for her stretching back what 6 years now?

WOOHOO! GOLD! And this time I don't think our gold medallist is on drugs. Heavily favoured all the way.

Tragedy in the hockey.

Two riders through in the BMX.

But most importantly, the Opals lead the yanks at quarter time in the women's basketball Smiley

Up by 4 at half time... US haven't lost a game since Barcelona, so certainly not counting chickens, but we   re putting up a good fight so far...

After the hockey, and the water polo, and the men's basketball... we could really do with a team win in the elimination stages.

Also two Aussies with genuine medal prospects (3+4 in qualifiers) in the diving, and a case of wait-and-see in the field, I think we have three finalists, not sure.

US up by 6 heading in to the final term, only positive spin for Australia is that both Cambage and Jackson had plenty of bench time and might be fresher than their opponents...

US win by 13, completely running over the top of the Aussies who had almost twice as many turnovers.

It's weird supporting Australia. We have done incredibly well in the team sports to be competing in all but two of them, and we've done very well to be getting through to the knockout stages in almost all of them. Great spread, and great for the future, but none will go on to fight for Gold. Still, we can look forward to a clutch of Bronze medals with luck.

It's be great to see one of them getting up for gold, and we all thought we were in with a real shot. Being in the bronze medal match proves that we were in with a shot, but we just can't seem to get it together enough in any single sport to go for the number one spot. Still, with so many finals placings, I suppose we should be proud - I think any other country would be, and I'm certain any country of 23 million would be.

So are we, but it's not going to come, and at least you have the winter Olympics to win lots of medals.

True. But I thought Israel might have at least a few good swimmers. But probably not.

Besides, our summer athletes (the ones who are active and not retired) are so unknown to me that I don't even have a clue at which sport we might still get some medal ...

Good enough for 1 finals and a few semis, not good enough for a medal.

Fun soccer final so far.  Tough no call for the Japanese on a hand ball. Could/should be level.
The Japanese are tough on the counter.

American dominance hasnt been there for a while.  The Jamaicans are faster and just incredible, nothing to cry about.  We are just ushering in an era of dominance in the triple jump Smiley
