Nice to see that the book has been thrown at the lot of them with a fairly significant degree of force.

No, Chris Hoy.

Not entirely fair because there are other successful sportscritters who are far worse than him, but still a bit funny given the whole nashnalhero thing.

I note that a fifteen year old American has just won a swimming gold. I note that the United States has a long history of drug cheating in the Olympics and, as such, am very, very concerned by this outcome. I suspect that comments from Chinese officials on the matter will be most interesting.

BTW, why isn't cricket an Olympic sport?

It's a bit of a scandal magnet, isn't it? IOC probably want as little additional issues in that general direction as can be helped.

Though it's probably more due to time constraints.

At the end of the clip, one of the NBC reporters covering the event said "...have beat the 'Ruskins".

But were presumably only awarded derisory damages.

The British TV coverage is getting completely unbearable...

Quite, quite.

I think a degree of open pleasure (at, say, the three Athletics golds the other day) is acceptable, but I draw the line at being forced to care about sailing. It is boring. I do not care if Ben Sailor Boy Whateverslie has won his twenty billioneth Olympic gold medal in the whatever class. On the screen it's just a load of triangles.

Andy Murray has won the men's singles tennis in straight sets. While Federer had a bad match, it's a deserved first major victory for him.

Of course, the most important thing about this is that he is an actually successful hibs fan.

He's also a bit of a cock, though you'd never know from the commentary...

The USA/Canada football match last night was hilariously violent. The spirit of Don Revie-era Leeds United lives or something.

The (just finished) Brazil/Russia womens volleyball match was a very good advert for the sport, as was the Japan/China match on earlier. Anyways, you know it's not your day when you fluff six match points in a set-based game and then lose.

Chief commisaire at the velodrome at risk of death after (correctly) relegating Victoria Pendleton from a 1/1000s win in the first heat of the sprint final for coming out of her line.

Her near consistent lack of discipline is pretty amusing.

A victory for the workers seems most appropriate given the part of London in question.
