Lenin at the Smolny. That's a pretty iconic painting. The furniture is what it is because until just before this had been a posh girls' boarding school, not the headquarters of a revolutionary government.

The good and old Alexandra Kollontai. I remember that I tried to read some of her writings when I was 12 or 13 years old. One of my aunts owned some books of her. Also there were some Lenins and Gorkys in her library. Personally I prefer "Red Cavalry" by Isaak Babel, and Vladimir Ulyanovich had a terrible bad taste like the trumblr blog exemplifies.

"how is this interviewer resisting the intensity of herbert’s eros: the repressive demands of his ISA, that strategically placed stack of papers, or an allergy to naugahyde? "
