French or German?

From a literature standpoint, I think French has the edge. But whatever you do, just don't waste time learning Spanish.

I've never liked the whole concept of a "useful" language. Study the culture which interests you (of the two I would therefore choose French... but whatever, it is your choice).

There's just precious little written in it. From an aesthetic standpoint, I have nothing against it.

French is relevant in more areas of the world obviously, but German is more important from a business world prospective. Really everyone should have the choice in the US of Spanish or Mandarin.
