Kaine has been tarnished with the foul stench of the national Democratic party.

Did you read that in an email from party headquarters or something?

Nope. These results were confirmed by the chamber of commerce which has Allen leading by 5. It is likely due to his high favorables.

Kaine has been tarnished with the foul stench of the national Democratic party.
And he also isn't as well liked as Warner he and Webb are on the same page as likeabilty.
However, this and Florida will be the marathon senate race that decides the true control of the senate.

You will, I trust, note that Allen's favorability rating is identical to that of Kaine, Kaine's unfavorables being higher presumably because he was in a position of partisan political power considerably more recently.

A net approval of +15 for Allen is a great rehab job on his part. It's not often that politicians can get away from calling brown people names in front of "the real America" and come back so strong. More surprising is that 29% have no opinion/are undecided about Allen - less than Kaine. I would have thought, all things considered, that a vast majority of Virginia would have an opinion of him. One has to wonder if there are any 'macaca' Kaine ads in the waiting to appeal to those left over 29%.
