Inside Politics reports that Nader has asked for a meeting with John Kerry.

I am unsure if he has got on any ballots yet, and he can see the same polls showing he may be a factor again.

Can it be that this is step one towards him putting aside his ego and endorsing Kerry?

...what would he 'demand' Kerry do to get him out?

Nader is a scumbag but I want the scumbag to run...  Because he will get the liberal turnout at 100% and the Republicans will lose a lot of close senate and house elections as is what happened in 2000 when the democrats won a lot of close senate races in states where Nader did well.

I'm betting he'll either drop out, demand a post in a Kerry EPA or department of commerce, or use the meeting to keep blasting Kerry or Bush.

He want something from Kerry in return for dropping out.  Perhaps this will be greater support for third-party candidates in future elections if Kerry wins, such as participation in the debates or something.

No, that scumbag Nader isn't getting anything.  He deserves nothing and nobody owes his old wrinkly ass anything.  He is an ego-maniac that should have been caged up a long time ago.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather have Nader-Kerry instead of Kerry-Nader while you're still dreaming?

Cage you up with Anna Nicole Smith.

And on this topic.  That scumbag Nader is not getting 7% as is claimed.  A new Connecticut poll shows 52% for Kerry, 33% for Bush and 4% for Nader.

Yes the scumbag is only getting 4% in his home state.  Any poll that has Nader at over 2% is complete and utter BULLSH*T.

Things are just no going well for Nader he has no money and is have big trouble in getting on state ballots most of his backers from 2000 are so mad at Bush they are supporting Kerry and most who voted for Nader in 2000 are now backing Kerry... I would imagine that Nader is perhaps looking to alter his role in this election from a candidate to something else... god knows what this is or how he hopes to achieve this but we will see... I'm not holding my breath though... but he has been going on about "being a second front against Bush"... how that works i don’t know but as i said we will see...

Not at all. Nader might well poll at 7% while getting less than 2% in the election. Didn't they teach you anything about polls at Yale?

Here is a CNN.com article on the Nader Kerry meeting

an ominous tidbit at the end says that Nader is also meeting with the Reform Party who have yet to announce a candidate.

It seems that Nader truly believes that by running he will help John Kerry get elected...I think he really believes it.

Nader has as much a right to run as anyone, and speaks for a lot of people who are not usually represented in presidential general elections.  I just hope those people won't end up voting for him.

Having said that, I'm sure he realizes that his candidacy will hurt his ostensible cause (defeating Bush), and hopefully this reality will overcome his ego and he will drop out.  He would be an huge asset to the Kerry administration, although he may not be an asset to the Kerry campaign.

Of course he has the right to run. I strongly believe in third party candidacies. It would de-polarize the country IMHO.

If he really believes in his cause he will drop out in a close election and endorse Kerry.

The system doesn't work with third-parties.  A combination of a deeply entrenched winner-takes all system and the vote going to the House if a candidate gets less than the majority of EC votes will never allow for a multiple party system.

I say get rid of Winner take all and go to a split electoral vote. Meaning if Florida went 50-49. Bush would get 14 and Kerry 13.

The last thing Kerry needs is to be perceived even more than he is now as an extreme liberal.  Nader's endorsement would further reinforce that perception in the minds of the electorate.  Kerry needs to move to the center.  A Nader endorsement sends the opposite message.  Endorse him Ralph.  Hell, barnstorm with him.
