Egyptian celebrity gets invited to do an interview with a "German" TV station.  After they start the interview, they let it slip that it's actually an Israeli channel.  Egyptian(s) get pissed and beats the sh**t out of everybody he thinks might be a Jew (including the lady doing the interview).  The first guy (a comedian) has a gun and at one point starts to pull it out before everybody freaks out and starts whipping out their (what I'm assuming is) Egyptian state IDs.  Then everybody claps for the maniac.  Oh and the guy that hit the lady (pretty hard I might add) then invites her to his car so he can rub lotion on her back....after making fun of her for not being able to take a punch.

It's all very strange and disturbing.

I doubt it, it certainly doesn't look staged.  And for what purpose?  Egyptians making Egyptians look bad?

It should be noted that they are actually proud of it. At the end of the show the female host expresses pride in the patriotism of the guests, such as the man who knocked her to the ground.

Yeah, I think that was the most bizarre part.  Hitting a woman is ok...and not just ok, something to be proud of, if you think she is a Jew.
