Agreed for anywhere but Massachusetts. Bloomberg has become synonymous with big-government nanny-statism. Though in a state like Massachusetts, that could win him votes.

Net positive for Brown, of course -- it meshes well with his public image.

It'd be bigger for Brown to get Mayor Menino's endorsement, though...  Wink

That's not really the case. In Massachusetts, Bloomberg is a symbol of New York.

Granted, an endorsement of this kind is not the sort of thing that'll hurt Brown either.

The fundraiser is really the most important part of this story. Bloomberg's presence means it'll draw anyone with NYC business connections out of the woodwork to give to Brown. $5,000 is a small price to pay to be able to talk to the mayor about a $2 billion project, after all.
