http://weaskamerica.com/2012/07/27/oh-bama/

Obama: 48%
Romney: 40%

Romney narrowly leads Indies but loses 20% of Republicans to Obama (!)

I can buy the Obama number but not the lead over Romney...

That's about in line with a few other polls.

8 point margin is higher than others I think but can be accounted for by undecideds being too high.

I think Obama will carry Ohio again, but this is a bit much.

Brown should be cruising if this is the case.

At least they noticed the seemingly unlikely high number of Republicans for Obama, and apparently asked some more Ohioans last night and got the same sort of numbers.

Is Ohio a state with partisan registration?  Maybe they are asking about registration and getting some people who are registered Republicans who are actually independents who registered to vote in the primary?  (I know, I'm grasping.)

What kind of reputation does WAA have? I know the Republicans here jump with joy whenever they have favorable numbers for them but what exactly is their track record?

They had another poll, Nevada I believe, showing a similarly large number of Republicans voting for Obama.  Just not believable.  We've not seen this in any other polls... You can just imagine what October will be like, a new poll of Ohio every other day..

Of course their Missouri poll is absolutely accurate, right?

I could readily believe either on its own, but the combination seems implausible.

It's plausible given that Obama has been swamping the Ohio airwaves.

In the end, Romney simply needs to win Republican votes.

Ohio doesn't have partisan registration in the same sense that most states who have it do. Ohio voters can show up at their voting precinct in the primary and ask for whatever party's ballot they want and are then listed as "registered" to the party they last asked for the ballot of.

The pollster calls them "self-described Republicans" not "registered Republicans" so I doubt that explains it.

But I thought We Ask America was nothing but a right-wing, hack, troll polling organization. Huh

They have to get in the news somehow ...

It would be better to achieve this with a Obama+20 poll in Ohio though. They would get a lot of press then.

Wow. I can imagine the tweets now.
"!!!!Obama leads 58-38% in Ohio!"

That'll probably PPPs headline next week.

That was the view when they called Walker +12 in the recall, but after that their polling went all over the place, sometimes heavily Dem. They're volatile, not R-leaning.
