God, as much as I love Scoop, and consider him one of the greatest Democrats of the 20th century, I can't vote against Teddy.

Whoops, clicked on the wrong box again. Meant Pat Mohniyhan, accidentally voted for Carter. Oh well, Carter is a good 2nd choice.

A few social issues aside, Obama's views are very much in line with those of Jackson.

You like Scoop Jackson?
You mean the same Scoop Jackson who blasted McGovern for "amnesty, acid, and abortion"?
this Scoop Jackson

?
anti school busing Scoop Jackson?
pro Vietnam Scoop Jackson?

but you'll vote for Kennedy?Huh
outside of a few issues (which must really matter to you), These guys had nothing in common?

They do, they just call them neocons and stick them in with Bush and Wolfowitz.

Really?  Scoop represented the best of the Cold War Democratic tradition - liberal on domestic issues, and a hawk on foreign policy.  He and Kennedy were very similar, except when it came to foreign policy.  Don't try to correct me on Ted and Scoop.

let's start with social issues
abortion, Affirmative Action, gay "rights", drugs ext.

do we agree that they are completely different on social issues?

outside of Union related issues, environment, and a few more domestic issues their completely different.

I'm not trying to correct you on Ted and Scoop.  I'm trying to find out about what issues you value more then any other because their is very little that Obama, Teddy, and Scoop have in common.

just to digress this slightly to show you my point Scoop probably got a higher percentage of the Orthodox Jewish vote in NYC in the 1976 dem primary then McCain got in the 2008 election.

PS Kennedy (not very popular in the Orthodox community though has some support solely for his Soviet Jewry policies) beat Carter big in the 1980 primary. This was a anti Carter vote much more then a pro Kennedy vote.

In short many Scoop Jackson democrats are now voting Republican.  Scoop Jackson himself almost endorsed Reagan over Carter.

just to make myself clear I'm not correcting you it's just that almost every single Jew I know likes Scoop and has a negative opinion on Obama.  Ted is a mixed bag because he did a lot of good and bad in office (though mostly bad in his later years).

You obviously have a different perspective in the similarities and differences between these 3and it's very possible that were both right depending on how many and what issues you look at.
