Is Nigel Farage ill or something? He's normally never off the TV even if they get like 3% at these things.

He was on QT just last night.

LibDems asked for a recount to see if they'd kept their deposit. Which is fine. They then asked for another one.

LOL Lib-Dems.

One re-count that doesn't determine the winner is surely enough, right?

And congratulations to UKIP on their high showing here tonight! May UKIP go on to even better and brighter fields!

They ran the Liberals pretty close for 3rd in the PCCs as well. Despite the PCC elections being total nonsense, Thursday was still a good day for UKIP.

You equate the 1989 Liberals with the pre-merger party?

It's not ideal - or I suppose accurate(!) - but though even I'm a LibDem member and understand the difference, I think it's worth equating them for the sake of a line of colour on a map.

How does this table look with the three latest by-elections? I suppose they must be doing funny things to it.

Is the Peace Party missing from your table?

Here we go. After 12 by-elections...

Rotherham and Bradford have really messed with the figures, but maybe we're just heading for a really bizarre general election. We need to see something in a Tory target held by the Liberals for a better picture.

Your tally, at least for Labour, is correct. Looks like he forgot Croydon North (and decided to ignore Belfast West).

[Wipes brow]

I did think twice about Belfast but it's a valid election and you can't stop a stats man from crunching figures.....

Very interesting table thanks for posting.

The Tories have lost more support than the Lib Dems, something I would not have expected.

I thought I'd gone wrong somewhere! (And i've put Northern Ireland on a different page of the spreadsheet Tongue)

Very interesting table thanks for posting.

The Tories have lost more support than the Lib Dems, something I would not have expected.

I think the Tories have had further to fall in most of the seats we've had so far and, as well, the Tories were a lot more friendly to tactically voting LibDem to stop Labour than they are now. I find it hard to remember the days of 'Rose Garden politics', to be fair.
