So, lets just assume that somehow one of the third party candidates wins the election, and that they win enough of a mandate to get at least some of their favored legislation passed. I know many of them don't even have enough ballot access to win, but lets just ignore that. Whose program would most damage the US?

Oh, and serious candidates only; Vermin Supreme and those like him don't count.

IIRC, the Constitution Party's platform includes planks that would replace the IRS and income tax with a tariff system. That would be ugly, as would most of their other isolationist nonsense.

Goode would plunge the U.S. into a Depression and the world into a very severe recession. All would be bad, except maybe Anderson.

None of them would be able to get their tax changes through Congress, though Johnson or Goode could veto them into submission on a lot of spending.

Stein or Anderson. I like Goode, and support his tariff plan, though Johnson is far better on economics.

I am not familiar with Goode's specific plan, but assuming it's similar to the CP's idea: how does Goode plan to implement a tariff only revenue system without exploding the deficit and causing a crippling amount of inflation?

far-right economics Virgil Goode's Tariff policy amount to a dagger pointed at the heart of the country.

Fixed that for you. I hadn't heard of his policy until this thread and if I had the answer would have been so obvious I wouldn't have even bothered with this thread. Protectionism can only lead to disaster for any country. If industries in the United States can't perform with industries in foreign countries the problem doesn't lie with government policy, it lies with Americans not being comparatively as good at producing at foreigners. I just can not believe that some conservatives would actually support a policy so stupid, poorly thought out, and dangerous to all people in the United States.

I could never support a libertarian economic policy, so Johnson. I don't know the other candidates well enough anyway.

IIRC the stance of most Greens is that economic growth isn't even desirable(at least in  Western countries), as it is associated with increased emissions. So if we're refferring to GDP when we say "economy", Stein seems the most appropriate answer.
