At the same time, however, we also find Republicans in our poll are more likely than Democrats to consider this year’s Presidential election important. As a result, among the 67% of voters who consider the election most important, Obama leads by only four points (47-43%). This higher level of interest among Washington Republicans is consistent with findings from national polls conducted by Gallup that show Republicans are more enthusiastic about this election than Democrats.
The telephone survey was conducted August 6-7, 2012 using live interviewers among a representative sample of 500 likely voters statewide in Washington State. The potential sampling error is plus or minus 4% at the 95% confidence level. Please let us know if you have questions.
