He fought all the primaries, spent millions, recruited ninja delegates....

....just for a speech of his son that nobody is going to listen?

It's unreasonable. Any alternative theory?

You could also credit Paul's efforts for getting an Federal Reserve audit and pro-Gold standard language into the GOP platform - which is likely what it was all about from the get go.

I don't believe that Romney supports any of those things.

You're probably right, but that's really irrelevant (especially if Romney loses). It's more to do with driving the GOP of the future in a certain direction.

So why not making some noise inside the RNC?

Paul's a classy guy and it's also my understanding that, while they disagree on a number of issues, Paul and Romney have an amicable relationship. Romney won the primary fair and square, so why endanger the ultimate goal of getting your ideas into the platform by throwing a hissy fit on the floor of the convention and ruining your friend's big day?

He's also getting a video tribute at some point during the Convention.

All worth it.

So he's gonna get a video tribute but they're not gonna let him speak? Won't that just make it seem like he's dead already?

I also thought that...I would think that the RNC in 2028 would be airing something like that, not 2012.

and his son's future. Plus if their was blood in Tampa, the GOP would just massacre Paul's people out of revenge and he doesn't want that either.

In unrelated Paul news, the Paulstock festival has been an epic failure due to the weather. Only 5,000 out of the expected 40,000 showed up. The turnout for tommorow, when Paul takes to the podium, will be much, much higher, thankfully.

How about the GOP just throws out Mitt Romney and picks Ron Paul and then America realizes he's the near perfect candidate and America wins while he wins in a perfect storm landslide?

oh, whoops, sounds like too much.

He should have the keynote instead of Krispy Creme Christie. The GOP needs to understand that the Ron Paul/Tea Party wing is the parties future as the Democrats go the way of European Social Democracy.

I could definitely see some of Ron Paul's views about the War on Drugs and civil liberties become more mainstream in the Republican Party (the latter is already almost mainstream), but I don't think his views on how large the government should be, nor his views on the Gold Standard, will ever truly become mainstream.

Obama's election back in 2008 and the policies he wants to force upon america (obamacare and extended abortion rights ) puts them in that direction.

Calling the Obama platform a move towards "social democracy" is really unfair to social democracy. At best, it's leftist corporatism. Something far worse.
