Huntsman isn't a RINO per-se, in that he actually sticks to Republican positions nine times out of ten. Manchin on the other hand...

Anyhow, voted Huntsman obviously.

Well, there are very few top-contender moderate Republicans to pick from. The fact that he hash't jumped on the anti-science bandwagon, supported emission reductions, civil unions, and the DREAM Act put him light-years ahead of the far-right types that are wrestling for control of the party.

I'm also curious to see if the forum Dems will hold their noses and vote for Manchin or opt for Huntsman. Tongue

I remember a while back there was a 'Battle of the Moderates' facing Joe Manchin off with Olympia Snowe, and Manchin won, albeit narrowly. I seem to recall a few red avatar posters as saying they couldn't vote Republican in the current partisan atmosphere, even if it was for a moderate.

It'll be interesting to see if that happens again!

I need to look at their respective policy views but, based on personalities, Huntsman easily.

Huntsman. I dislike him for being a bad ambassador and for pandering to far-leftists, but he had a good record at UT Gov. Would probably have a good record as president.

Don't want to vote Manchin, but it's pretty sad that the Republicans have moved so far right that even Huntsman is considered a RINO.

Huntsman is not a RINO at all, but I think I will vote for my families favorite son-Manchin. I really would like to see Manchin join the GOP and run on the ticket with Huntsman, though the base would never in a thousand years tolerate it.

Huntsman is definitely not a RINO, but I'd enthusiastically support him.

Right.  Huntsman is not a RINO.  In fact, I would contend that there's no such thing as a RINO or a "DINO".  There's plenty of room for a wide variety of views in both parties.

Huntsman. It would be great to have a more moderate GOP, and I think Huntsman would be much better than Manchin in most aspects.

Huntsman, easily.

Oh, and LoL at self-considered "libertarians" or "libertarian-republicans" Sanchez and 20rp12 for voting Manchin, an economic liberal but social conservative, exactly the opposite of what they are.

Manchin is pretty right wing on economic issues.

Look, I live in Utah. I lived through Huntsman as governor (it wasn't too bad). I have no idea how anyone could ever say that he pandered to far-leftists.

I think it might be more that Huntsman is popular. After all, Manchin beat Olympia Snowe.
