which is very much an agreement of stalemate. Neither party is likely to have full control of the federal government in the near future so for now, I think both parties should make an agreement that no laws will be passed and that taxes and spending will stay as is. So basically a stalemate agreement that there is no use bickering over stuff that won't get passed anyways

The sad thing is, I think your "deal" is much better than what will actually happen.

That's not a deal, it would be a suicide pact.

The really sad thing is that all three responses to this thread so far are simultaneously correct.

You mean it's time for Republicans to make a deal? Democrats have bending over backwards to try to bridge the partisan gap.

What a ridiculously stupid plan.  So because the two parties conflict a lot, we should put a stop to progress on anything they might agree on and just not do anything?

That's not a deal, it would be a suicide pact.

All the more reason to do it. Both parties imploding would most likely be a significant improvement for the American electoral system.
