Cheesy

One or two more of these and Cory will stop being silly with his "consideration."

Probably at this point, just positive residual feelings from the RNC combined with incumbency. Booker can still beat Christie, with some effort.

When an incumbent is under 50% with a year until the election, it suggests vulnerability.

Christie is probably the favorite, but a Booker victory is certainly possible.

Christie's approval and favorability ratings are high. Incumbents in NJ almost always poll in the 40s in head to head match ups. He's fine.

This is NJ. The speech was supposed to hurt him, if anything. Polling showed voters didn't care about his speech one way or the other though.

A Booker victory is certainly not possible, because Booker certainly is not going to run for governor next year. We really need to move past this sticking point.

Christie is the only person who can beat Cory, and probably vice versa.

I still think the outcome will largely depend on who's president in 2013, just as it has for almost two decades or so.

If Booker gets in - which I don't think is likely - this will be close. Let's remember that NJ is a Dem state and the partisans come home in the end. Best case for Christie against Booker is 53-47.

Booker is the only guy in NJ that could give Christie a run for his money, and he doesn't even have above a 40% chance of winning in my mind. Plus, I don' think Booker will run.

Booker's not going to roll the dice on a close race. There's a safe Senate seat waiting for him in 2014, and no one can take it from him unless Christie decides to move to the Senate, which I really doubt. And in that race if it happened, Booker might be the favorite.

I'm still angry about the Bain attacks comments. He'd be better off getting the senate seat in 2014, I don't think he can beat Christie.

Booker's comments about Bain are not so different from say...Bill Clinton's.

Though I do think

would be a good idea. Tongue

President Clinton only said that his business career and being Governor qualified him for the Presidency. Booker just came out and said the attacks made him sick. That comment, as far as I'm concerned, burned many bridges to higher office he might have had.
And this , never gonna happen. Maybe this , but unless the country experiences a major re-alignment, like the New Deal or Great Society, I'll never join the GOP. Or if they can revive Reagan's corpse and get him to run again, but I doubt it.

They both said the attacks were wrong, but also said that Bain experience shouldn't qualify Romney for the presidency. It's the same message. Now, I disagree with it, but it's much fairer than what the Bainers are saying.

Also, I'm fairly confident we'll have a major re-alignment in a few decades. The math that "works" in 2000 won't work in 2030. Esp. regarding taxes, entitlements, and that kind of stuff. So I haven't given up yet! Tongue

Preparing to launch a gubernatorial bid against Gov. Chris Christie, state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-18) panned the GOP governor’s speech last week as chest-thumping Republican Party pablum.

Is Booker considering a run after all?

I'm sure he'll wait for the results of this presidential election before he really decides whether to get in or not.

If Booker is seriously debating running, that means Christie is seriously debating not running for re-election. With Mitt in the gutter, some folks are thinking about '16.

It's complicated.

Any New Jersey Republican would be vulnerable to a charismatic Democrat.

But I wonder if a loss would hurt Booker's prospects for later bids. Would some wags suggest that he should have been able to unseat Christie when an open seat emerges?

Lautenberg's also going to be 90, and while he has been collecting chits for another term for some time, I would expect the party to force him out in favor of Booker. So he would have the Senate in 2014.
