As you all probably know, Marijuana is on the ballot this November in battleground Colorado. Seeing young people will turn out to vote for it, the conventional wisdom states it'll hurt Romney. But couldn't it also hurt Obama because Gary Johnson is on the ballot?

Obama and Johnson. But probably more for Obama.

I think pot and young voters in CO will be for Obama like gay marriage was for for Bush in OH in 2004. Back then the anti gay marriage ballot initiative  helped boost the evangelical vote and if Bush lost OH he would have lost the election, even if he had a PV win.

No, because Gary Johnson has no chance of winning the state.

I seriously doubt the marijuana initiative is going to lead to a very large increase of youth voters. Did anything similar happen in California in 2010?

No, I mean he could siphon off the pot-head vote like Nader in 2000 and Goode in Virginia.

Considering Obama's strong stand against legalization, I doubt it will help.

Obama and Johnson. But probably more for Obama.

I think pot and young older voters in CO will be for Obama Romney like gay marriage was for for Bush in OH in 2004. Back then the anti gay marriage ballot initiative  helped boost the evangelical vote and if Bush lost OH he would have lost the election, even if he had a PV win.

Fixed. Not even California was ready to vote for pot legalization.

Young pot smokers already came out in the largest numbers in 08 in Boulder for Obama. This amendment will help Johnson, but it's not going to bring new youth voters to Obama after higher turnout in 08. Youth turnout will be down as it will across the nation

If anything, Johnson is going to draw votes away from Obama on the marijuana crowd more than he would from Romney.
