Four people killed near Lake Annecy in France Four people have been shot dead in the peaceful surroundings of Lake Annecy in eastern France, say reports.
The bodies of three people were found in a British-registered BMW car near Chevaline, in the Haute Savoie region, say local media.
A cyclist was found dead nearby. A girl under 10 years old was discovered injured, reports said.
The lake is a popular tourist destination known for its swimming and water sports.
The cyclist who discovered the car is said to be in shock.
Police gave no details of the victims' nationalities, saying the investigation was still under way.
The girl was reported to have died of her injuries but Agence France-Presse later said the prosecutor who had announced her death had issued a correction.
He now says she is in a critical condition in intensive care, the news agency reports.
The parking lot in which the bodies were found is in a quiet, forested area.
It has now been sealed off by some 60 police, who have started a criminal investigation.
The UK's Foreign Office said it was aware of reports of the shootings and was looking into them urgently.
