More than enough to rethink my former dislike of Clinton.

A perfect 10.  I've never seen a better speech.

Best convention speech I've ever seen live (D+R, 1996-present).

Also a nice contrast with the failure of both Reps and other Dems to engage with policy in their speeches.

Thought it was a 10 as well --but did anyone else notice the spittle forming in the corner of his mouth? I was watching in high definition...

That was just a little of his awesomeness leaking out. Wink

Watched it on C-SPAN's website after I got home from work. It's a 9.5/10 and I'll round up.

I'm quite pleased by how little he blew himself during the speech. I mean, he did some of that, but not nearly as much as I expected.

He has Monica Lewinsky for that, amirite?

15 minutes in and he's already DEVASTATED the Republicans. Already plenty of clips that would be great in 30 second ads.

So "Yes we can!" is now "Nobody could have done it!"  That's so, inspiring.

Man so many quotes here belong in a real world Sulfur Mine. Especially the bit about how Ryan is attacking Obama for doing what he promised to do.

And damn you have to admire how researched this is.

10/10. Yeah that was damn near irrefutable. Not surprising J. J. is grasping at straws in his rather pathetic attempt to do so as so always does.

I am going to be tremendously amused if Obama wins, Clinton figures "boy, since Obama owes me his second term, he'll probably be grateful", and Obama isn't.

A comment like this is gold. Although in this echo chamber of clinton love I'm not surprised it was ignored.

Let's get real, very few people save for political junkies watched his whole speech, it was insanely long. Difficult to watch even, I mean he can make anything sound great, but talking about Hilary and Obama's "relationship of respect and partnership" was cringe-worthy.

15 minutes in and he's already DEVASTATED the Republicans. Already plenty of clips that would be great in 30 second ads.

Again, Clinton in a 30 second spot undermines Obama's legitimacy. If Obama was truly the awesome leader and motivator he supposedly is, why does he need to trot out Clinton to sell it? Nostalgia for Clinton doesn't dissipate the arguments against O's decidedly lackluster first term.

If anything Bill strengthened the Clinton family's influence and power over the Democratic party for years to come. Especially after seeing the complete fawning of those who ate his speech up with a spoon. Congrats Bill; Hillary 2016 is now pretty much a done deal.

I've just watched the entire speech. Amazing. It can't be anything below 10.

Not one false claim in Bill Clinton's speech last night: http://www.bloomberg.com/video/no-false-claims-in-clinton-s-dnc-speech-c2Ha7CgMRqm9CIwOZMH2mA.html?cmpid=otbrn.video

Compare that to Paul Ryan's speech of lies last week.

I would be surprised if Obama didn't endorse Hillary if she decides to run again. Of course the circumstances matter. If Obama's approval ratings are in the 30's during the next election, nobody is going to want his endorsement. But as long as he is fairly popular or not that unpopular, his endorsement will be important in 2016.

I gave it a 9 out of 10, with a 10 for delivery.

I can thing of an absolutely devastating speech Ted Kennedy gave at a convention.  Great speech, bashed the opposition candidate.  Had the delegates chanting in response and cheering.  The keynote speaker was almost as good.

Kennedy's tag line was, "Where was George?"  It was 1988.  The keynote speaker was Ann Richards.

I could make the same argument about Powell's speech in 1996, at the RNC.

I can only think of one or two examples where non-candidate's speeches made a difference.  1884 and 1992.  Both were negative.

The candidate's speeches can make a difference, but these secondary ones generally don't.  It is "a" speech.  I'm saying the same thing about Warren.

I have not seen Ryan's speech yet. I fear I might have a cerebrovascular accident having to listen to all those lies.

all the fanboys here with the "one for the ages" and "among the best ever"...  Conventions are play-acting.  nothing could hold a candle to those who spoke with their skin on the line.

What's with the meme that the Obamas and Clintons still hate each other? Obama's appointment of Hillary to State has literally made her the most popular woman in the world.

Yeah, there are few things Obama could have done that would better set up Clinton to easily be elected president in 2016.
