^

The phrases 'strong progressive' and 'strong liberal' are starting to bother me about as much as the phrase 'strong female character' does, and for similar reasons.

Would you prefer "stalwart progressive"? Or maybe "forceful progressive"?

"Acute progressive"? "Heavy-duty progressive"?

Best.

I think of the serious options given 'stalwart' and 'forceful' work best. All of these are preferable to 'strong', which in usages like this becomes almost as colorless and irritating an adjective as 'nice' can be.

I love it. It makes conservatism sound like an illness. Wink
