Byrd (D-WV)
Dayton (D-MN)
Durbin (D-IL)
Harkin (D-IA)
Jeffords (I-VT)
Kennedy (D-MA)
Kerry (D-MA)

Bayh is a surprise.  If he's really going to run for President, I would consider this move to be, well, sort of stupid frankly.  After all, Hillary voted for her and I'm sure that everything she's doing right now is to prepare for a Presidential run.  Smiley

As for the rest of this list:

Akaka (D-HI):  Senile
Bayh (D-IN):  Surprising
Boxer (D-CA):  Kook
Byrd (D-WV):  Racist, KKK guy
Dayton (D-MN):  Looney
Durbin (D-IL):  Loonier
Harkin (D-IA):  Loudmouth who doesn't tell the truth
Jeffords (I-VT):  Turncoat
Kennedy (D-MA):  Not surprising
Kerry (D-MA):  Surprised he actually showed up.

I take offense to the Durbin statement..

I really thought more Democrats would put up a fight..

It again goes to the "message" problem the Dems have (or more to the point, don't have)

32 Democrats voted "for" Rice, 13 Voted against her.

What is the Democratic position on Rice?

Politically you can argue things both way as to which position is politically smartest, but they need to have ONE position as a party...

Yes, but he'll be back just as soon as he has his sheet refitted.

In another post, some apologist tried to convince me that conservatives are race-baiting the Grand Dragon's vote against Rice.

No, the old man truly is a racist reptile: he not only voted against Clarence Thomas for SC, he voted against Thurgood Marshall for SC as well!

Byrd doesn't like his nigras getting all uppity, whether their left-wing or not.

If Feinstein votes for Gonzales, too, she's going to be very vulnerable in the primary.

Well, she has been racking up the bad votes:
Condi Rice, Patriot Act (ok, almost everyone voted for that), Iraq war, one of the Bush tax cuts, and so on....

I'm not terribly surprised Feingold voted for her, he voted to confirm asscroft too.
And Hillary is laying low right now so she won't make any controversial votes.

Condi will be a great Secretary of State!

Way to go!

Does anyone know, when is Sen. Byrd retiring?  PLEASE!!

I HOPE he doesn't stay on as long as Strom did!

I can't believe these parties giving these guys their nominations, over and over and over and over, at that age!
