Whatever Romney's reaction, this attack happened on Obama's watch, not Romney's. And whatever happens with the political noise of this situation, it's not going to erase that fact.

True, but most people will understand that there isn't much that Obama could have done.

Romney's comments on the other hand could have be done different. But Romney is an amateur and he showed it.

Exactly, one man looked like a President.....while the other looked like a fool.

I think that image says volumes. What is damned hilarious about this situation? There's no LOL in it.

I encourage you to stop reading the Drudge Report and just look at reactions to the Romney speech on Twitter. Easier yet, do a search on Google News; easier still, look at the photo I posted before.

(My apologies if I sound more hackish than usual but Romney's speech kindled anger on a fuel of cynicism, so to speak)

twitter is dem stronghold...

That's not true. "Democrat Stronghold" would mean D+5, and the partisan sample of twitter is probably more like D+2.

Junk post.

Desperate campaign is desperate.

ETA: Also, the idea of Mitt Romney as Commander in Chief is quickly moving from laughable to terrifying.

And 9/11 happened under W's watch.

Wow, what a creepy smile.

That said, I don't see why this is such a big deal, could someone enlighten me?

Well, in itself it's not that big-a-deal. But it fits perfectly in the narrative that Romney will say and do everything to win and that he hasn't the character to be president.

I've heard that Bill Kristol was saying negatives about Romney.

Not true: http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/romney-right_652223.html

One can question the timing and tone of Mitt Romney’s statement last night. One can note he wasn't as fluent and clear as he might have been at his press conference this morning. Still, the fact remains that the events of September 11, 2012, represent a big moment for the country. Romney is right to sense this, and to seize on this moment as an occasion to explain the difference between his foreign policy and President Obama’s. He’s right to reject the counsel of the mainstream media, which is to keep quiet and give President Obama a pass.

The more his campaign defends him the longer the story stays a story.....he said what he meant....judge him and move on.

Remeber what I said about his inane comment on the number of ships in the US Navy?  I knew way back then this guy should not be given the nuclear button.  Private equity guys should not be in charge of the military.

What an idiot.

I think Castro summed it up best...

I was concerned about Cain, Bachmann, or Palin getting the nuclear button but it appears they were just a distraction to keep us from realizing the true lunacy of Mitt Romney.

Well, there is always 2016 for the Republicans. Maybe they can produce a decent candidate?

On Friday, I'm skipping a free Romney event that would normally cost $2,500 to get in to wait all night to see some crazy Korean man do weird dances. This should say a great deal about the state of the campaign.

Yes, yes it would. In any other context doing that would be highly irregular.

I've just seen a tweet that sums Romney's situation right up. His campaign's so dead that he's got the baptism booked for next week.
